Start with curiosity, not a lecture.
Ask the player to show you the experience and explain the item in their own words. “What would this change?” is usually more useful than “Why do you need it?” You are trying to understand the attraction before agreeing a boundary.
Try three questions: would it still be fun without the purchase; will the benefit last; and does anything renew? Keep “not today” available without turning it into a punishment.
Use a linked parent account.
Roblox provides accounts with parent privileges that can be linked to a child’s account. The official setup includes an adult-verification step and lets the parent manage supported controls from their own account. Follow the current linking instructions on Roblox, not a third-party form.[20]
Account features and available controls vary with age and region. Review what appears for your family rather than following an old screenshot word for word.
A spending limit is only one layer.
From the linked parent account, Roblox’s guide directs you to Settings → Parental controls → Settings you manage → Spending restrictions → Monthly spending limit. Set the intended amount and confirm the change.[19]
Keep separate notes for the real-money budget, any Robux already held and recurring commitments. A gift-card balance and a card-payment limit are not interchangeable controls.
Make room for a no-spend routine.
A simple family routine could be: browse together, write down the item, step away, then decide later. The pause does not need to be complicated. The point is to move the decision away from excitement, friends’ suggestions or a countdown.
Agree where receipts belong and who checks renewals. Do not ask a child to keep passwords or recovery codes in a shared document just to make spending easier to supervise.
